Stop and smell the lilacs! Situated in the beautiful rolling hills of the Municipality of Trent Hills is Warkworth, host to the Warkworth Lilac Festival. All are welcome to come check out rare and beautiful lilacs of unique varieties, with the 2025 festival scheduled for May 24 and 25.
Warkworth is located about 90 minutes east of Toronto, and while it may be a small village, it packs a punch, cosseted by seven picturesque hills.
The annual event that takes place on the Millennium Lilac Trail and attracts visitors from all over Ontario. If you’re a flower lover, then you’re going to want to check it out, as the festival boasts a slew of rare lilacs of multiple varieties.
The lilacs are planted strategically in beds along the trail, turning it into a showcase of blooms – a perfect place to stroll around and snap some photos.
There’s more than just lilacs to enjoy, though.
According to the Warkworth Lilac Festival, “Festivities on the Lilac Trail include activities for the entire family. Included are a variety of vendors, children’s activities, musicians and food service.”
Stunning trails of lilacs, music, food, what more could you ask for? While you’re visiting Warkworth, be sure to check out the local shops on Main Street, too. Some favourites are Weekenders Vintage, Sunday’s Company, Trentmendous and Cheeky Bee Candle Company.
I can’t think of a better way to spend a day.
