All aboard! There’s a scenic train experience in Ontario that you have to try this summer. Bare witness to the beauty that is the Muskoka River on the Muskoka Heritage Place Portage Flyer Train. Here’s what to know.

You’ll feel as if you’re living in the 1900’s as you take a ride on the Portage Flyer Train.

“It takes a great deal of skilled manpower and resourcefulness to keep a historic antiquated railway in operation but it’s all worth it,” shares organizers.

“Just imagine yourself back in 1904, heading toward South Portage and Lake of Bays.”

The train leaves the Rotary Village Station and takes a scenic trip along the Muskoka River onto Fairy Lake Station.

For you train enthusiasts, you will be riding a 1926 Steam Locomotive.

The return trip is about 30 minutes which is just enough time to capture the beautiful scenery.

For the summer season, train rides are available from Tuesday to Saturday at 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, and 3 PM.

Those interested must arrive 15 minutes before departure times to ensure they get a spot on the train.

And to get tickets, you can only get them on the same day. Make sure to head to the station as it opens one hour prior to departure for ticket sales.

This train ride is only available until August 31st so hop on before it’s too late.
