Alberta is known for its large and growing number of festivals. This includes music festivals, which only seem to be getting more and more popular as the years go by. Whether you’re a metalhead, a rock-lover, a pop girl, or just looking for something more electronic, these festivals cover all your bases.
We’ve rounded up some of the best music festivals to keep an ear out for, so without further ado, let’s get into them!
For the first year ever, Igloofest is making an appearance in Edmonton. This festival isn’t about igloos, contrary to belief; instead, it’s an electrifying music festival. It began in Montreal in 2007, taking over the outdoors to light up the city with music, and now, it’s taking its beats over to the west.

Located in downtown Calgary with a stunning view of the Rockies, this electronic music festival offers names like the popular Dom Dolla, Mau P, Griz, and many more.

It’s widely known that the Calgary Stampede has excellent concerts with even better, bigger names. Although it isn’t exactly a music festival, I’m putting it on this list because each year, it continues to draw in a huge crowd for its concerts. Alanis Morissette is just one of the biggest ones this year, and I personally can’t wait.

This is the second year of Rockin’ Thunder in Edmonton, bringing even bigger rock names to the stage. With Creed and Three Days Grace, you can expect to be headbanging all night.

Where: Exhibition Lands Racetrack, Edmonton, Alta.

This festival has been an absolute staple in the Alberta rave scene, even more so in Calgary itself. You won’t want to miss out on this year’s stacked lineup. Whether you’re in for drum and bass beats or trance music, there will be something to suit your vibe.

Boots and Hearts is bringing its iconic country music charm out west in 2026 for Boots and Hearts West. This will be the first time the festival will be leaving Ontario, and there’s no better place than the wild, wild west.
Headliners for Boots and Hearts West are Russell Dickerson on Friday, who will also be headlining in Ontario, and Shaboozey on Saturday. Both are country music legends with insane discographies.
When: Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, and Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026
Time: Gates at 2:30 p.m., ending at 11 p.m.
