If you’re still unsure of which universities in Canada to apply to for the upcoming school year, a new ranking could help with your decision.

U.S. News and World Report released its list of Best Global Universities in Canada, ranking post-secondary institutions based on their research performance and ratings from academics around the world and within North America.

Their positions in the list are also based on the schools’ overall Best Global Universities rankings.

The universities in Canada that took the top three spots are the usual suspects.

McGill took third place with a global score of 74.3 and a global ranking of 62. It’s composed of 10 faculties and schools: Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Arts, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Law, Management, Medicine, Music, and Science.

It’s home to the oldest medical school in Canada and boasts research achievements like the creation of the first artificial blood cell.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) placed second with a global score of 77.1 and a global ranking of 41. Both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses are known for their sweeping mountain views and elite research facilities, including Canada’s national TRIUMF subatomic physics laboratory, the Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm, and the Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention.

In first place is the University of Toronto, with a global score of 83.6 and a global ranking of 16. It’s where the medical innovation insulin was discovered by researchers in the early 1920s. It also boasts more than 44 libraries that house over 19 million physical volumes.

Other universities in Canada that cracked the top 10 include the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, and the University of Ottawa.
