These Calgary streets will soon be closed due to “movies filming”

Wild Rose Country has become a favourite amongst major production companies, so it is important to take note of who and what will be where. Not sure what we mean? This week, one of the many movies being shot in Alberta could affect your route to or from work.

From lights and cameras to action stars, Calgary is no stranger to Hollywood bigwigs—and fall 2024 is going to be a good one!

Not only will the city host A-List stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, who are filming Die, My Love, in the area, but some popular producers, including Leonardo DiCaprio, will work on YYC-based projects.

This, of course, has its perks, but some drawbacks as well.

If you’re among those who are on top of their schedule, prepare for a quick road closure on 2nd Avenue and 2 Street SW, from September 13th and 14th, between 5 am and 2 am.

“Traffic Impacts: ROAD CLOSED. Reason for Closure: Movies Filming,” the city writes.

As of right now, it’s unclear which one of the many movies filming in Calgary, Alberta will take to that street in particular, but it will only be a matter of time until someone is spotted.

As always be patient, be prepared, and be respectful!

This is huge for our province– so let’s do what we can to keep ’em here for another few seasons.

It’ll be all worth it when we see our big city on the small screen.
