Horror movies and TV shows filmed in Alberta

Filmed entirely in Alberta, The Last Of Us is dramatic, moving, beautifully acted, and features some truly terrifying scenarios.

Skinamarink (2022)

Another fantastic TV show! Set in the “Z Nation” universe, Netflix’s Black Summer stars Jamie King (Pearl Harbour, Sin City) as a mother who is separated from her daughter, Anna, in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.

Alongside other survivors, she embarks on a harrowing journey to find her. This show is almost exclusively filmed in Calgary and even features a ton of local performers.

Wynonna Earp (2016-2021)

Filmed entirely in Alberta, this Netflix original is best described as a Western, drama, horror, action, and fantasy series, that follows a 27-year-old badass who battles demons, creatures, and criminals in a small town called ‘Purgatory.’

While it does defy a single genre, we definitely believe that it belongs on this list. Fear is in the eye of the beholder, after all.
