Calgary and Edmonton Alberta have some incredible restaurants, bars, cafes, and diners, but where should you make your next reservation?

We’re spoiled for choice, but Air Canada has begun to narrow it down with their longlist of best new spots from coast to coast and four of them are in Wild Rose Country.

Every year since 2002 this list has embraced new culinary talent and highlighted their accomplishments. 2024 was no different!

Like so many before it, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto were given a nod, but it’s Edmonton and Calgary that have our attention!

With their top 10 having yet to be revealed, here are the Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta restaurants (opened between late spring 2023 and May 31, 2024) that snagged a coveted spot.

Calgary

Bar Gigi

Described as serving “comfort without any heaviness” Calgary’s Bar Gigi serves everything from cabbage skewers to spaghetti. It may only have 20 seats, but it offers a cozy experience and food good enough to make the list.

Edmonton

Bar Henry

“It’s handsome here,” they write.

The latest from Daniel Costa, Bar Henry is modern, sophisticated, and serves beautiful food, drinks, and desserts.

Bernadette’s 

Serving Indigenous sharing plates such as bannock brisket with Saskatoon berries, as well as after-dinner tea, Bernadette’s celebrates tradition and elegance.

Little Wolf

Featuring a “smart and compact” menu, Little Wolf offers creative dishes, like cremini mushrooms served with salsa macha and black cod belly with fermented tomatoes and cucumber.

“We tip our bowls to spoon out the last sip. It blows the house down.”
