As desperate as many in Ontario may be for a job of any kind in this economy, landing a gig at a brand known for treating their staff well — whether it’s by offering great pay and benefits, realistic flexibility and work/life balance, or having forward-thinking policies — is ideal.
One key aspect of ensuring employees are satisfied and fulfilled at work is fostering a good office culture, which can mean having a company vision and values that people can believe in, well-rounded HR initiatives, and a way of operating day-to-day that makes workers feel respected and valued, along with giving them the tools to succeed.
And, if you’re looking for the companies with the best workplace culture in Ontario and Canada as a whole, Forbes has just released a list.
As the outlet notes, this one major factor is not only something that job-seekers look for in a potential employer, but also benefits those at the top and the entire company, too, as employee engagement defines workplace productivity — and lost productivity can cost millions.
“When people are strongly connected to their employer’s culture, they are more than four times as likely to be engaged at work, they are 62 per cent less likely to feel burned most of the time, and are 47 per cent less likely to be looking for other jobs,” Forbes writes.
“And of course, an engaged, motivated staff translates into not only a more positive workplace, but also a more productive one… organizations that pride themselves on their culture and community [see] both the employees and the bottom line thriving as a result.”
To compile the list, researchers used survey results from more than 40,000 Canadians who were asked to rate the firms they work for based on things like opportunities, fairness and inclusivity, and also whether they would recommend their company to others.
