Quebecers don’t have to look far for a world-class spa day. The province has long been known for its Nordic baths, wellness retreats, and countryside getaways, but now two spots just a short drive from Montreal have been recognized among the very best on the planet.

The 2025 World Spa Awards — an international competition that ranks spas in dozens of categories — handed out this year’s titles for Canada, and Quebec came away with two of the big ones. From a legendary retreat in the Eastern Townships to a sleek Nordic-style spa perched on the St. Lawrence, both winners show off a different side of Quebec’s spa culture.

Here’s a closer look at the winners.

Spa Eastman: Canada’s Best Wellness Retreat

Spa Eastman, in the Eastern Townships, isn’t your average spa. Open since the late 1970s, it was one of the first in North America to really embrace the idea of a full wellness retreat. Stays often include not just massages, but days or weeks dedicated to rest, healthy food, and activities like yoga, meditation, and forest walks.

This year, it was officially named Canada’s Best Wellness Retreat. The award recognizes how Eastman has turned its countryside setting into a place where people go to disconnect and reset.

Address: 895 Chemin des Diligences, Eastman, QC J0E 1P0

Price: Daily access starts at $109, all-inclusive stays start $275 per night

Distance from Montreal: around 1 hour and 15 minutes by car

Strøm Nordic Spa, Old Quebec: Canada’s Best Day Spa

On the other end of the spectrum, Strøm Nordic Spa’s Old Quebec location was named Canada’s Best Day Spa. It’s a spot designed for shorter escapes, where you can move between hot and cold baths, saunas, infinity pools, and quiet lounges overlooking the river.

The minimalist architecture and Nordic-inspired rituals have made it a go-to for locals and visitors looking to recharge without leaving the city. Winning this award puts it on the national stage, but it’s long been one of Quebec’s favourite spots to slow down for a few hours.

If taking a day trip to Quebec City isn’t in the cards, though, Montrealers can always check out Strøm’s Nun’s Island location.

Address: 515 Boulevard Champlain, Québec, QC G1K 0E

Price: Thermal experiences start at $79 per day

Distance from Montreal: roughly 2 hours 45 minutes by car
