If you haven’t caught on yet, it’s officially April Fools’ Day 2025 in Toronto, and as anticipated, many local attractions, businesses, and restaurants are taking to social media in hopes of pranking their followers and customers.
From unrealistic moves to head-scratching food combinations and custom-made drinks for your four-legged friends, here are our picks for the best April Fools’ Day pranks that tricked people in Toronto this year.
Canada’s Wonderland relocation
Did you hear? Canada’s Wonderland is relocating! Well, not actually, but plenty of people fell for this prank posted by the amusement park’s social team this morning.
The team joked that the park will be relocating to Wonder Island in 2031, a custom-built island located right by downtown Toronto. One person even asked if the amusement park would be providing an air taxi from the airport, to which the team cleverly responded that they’ll have both WonderTaxis and WonderFerries to transport riders, with transportation included in the price of admission.
Tim Hortons lobster and ketchup donuts
Although Tim Hortons is regularly inundated with requests to bring back its vintage menu items, the coffeehouse chain announced that it was dropping a few savoury donuts (that quite literally no one asked for) just in time for April 1.
The “Canadiana Donut Menu” includes the Atlantic Lobster Éclair (topped with fresh chunks of Atlantic Canada lobster and lemon sour cream), the Ketchup Chip Cruller (classic Cruller coated with sweet glaze and ketchup chip seasoning), and the Poutine Donut (a yeast ring donut dipped with savoury gravy fondant and topped with crispy golden fries and Canadian cheese curds).
Sunnys Chinese Fish French Toast
This Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant decided April 1 was the perfect day to launch its new menu item — a fish French toast.
You heard that right. The toast is stuffed with a shrimp and sea bass paste, fried and drizzled with oolong condensed milk for a savoury dessert that’s both fishy and sweet. Would you give this a try?
Demetres pickle ice cream
This one’s a big dill. Demetres took a break from its usual feed this morning to introduce a brand new flavour — Pickle Me Softly.
Call me delusional, but this is one of the weirder food combinations that actually sounds like it would be tasty. Crafted with 100-day barrel-aged piles and organic hand-harvested dill, the punchy flavour brings “sweet and sour” to a whole new level.
IKEA Canada’s meatball-flavoured lipstick
During your next visit to IKEA, forget about all the furniture, because there’s a whole new line of Swedish cuisine-inspired beauty products to try out.
The affordable beauty line includes Lingonberry jam flavoured lip gloss for $3.99, meatball-flavoured lipstick for $4.99, gravy scented masque for $2.99, and perhaps the most shocking (or enticing, we don’t judge), hot dog scented serum for $5.99.
Cocktail Emporium’s pet cocktails
Cocktail Emporium’s team revealed that they are officially putting the “tail” back in cocktails with the launch of their pur-fect pet cocktails.
To start, they’re offering a special cat-tini featuring churu (tuna flavour), a fibre powder rimmer, and a dental kibble garnish. They also revealed that they have plans for a line of doggo drinks, parakeet punches, bunny bevvies, and more.
Ketchup chip BeaverTails
This is a Canadian combination we never saw coming. The BeaverTails team fooled many of its followers on social media this morning when they announced the launch of their Toma-Tail.
The dessert (if you can even call it that after it’s been topped with ketchup chips) is described as the ultimate sweet, salty, and tangy bite. The treat is available starting at participating locations, including the chain’s Queens Quay W. location.
Ethica Coffee Roasters eliminating caffeine
This coffee shop’s fans stopped dead in their tracks when they announced that they would be shifting to a 100 per cent decaf model.
The team justified the move, writing that they “care about your sleep schedule more than your productivity.” A few customers fell for the joke, but Ethica Coffee Roasters reminded everyone to check their calendars.
Ontario Place renaming
As the controversial redevelopment of Ontario Place and Therme’s wellness complex continues to dominate headlines, grassroots community group, Ontario Place for All decided to make a cheeky joke about the whole situation.

The group turned heads when they announced that the Ontario government would be renaming “Ontario Place” to just “Place” after the government’s removal of “all things Ontario.”
Horseshoe Falls “spring cleaning”
If you’re planning on visiting Niagara Falls today, you might notice that all the water has vanished. At least, that’s what the social team behind Niagara Parks had everyone thinking when they posted their April Fools’ Day prank.
On April 1, 2025, Niagara Parks will divert water flow over the Horseshoe Falls for annual spring cleaning. Water will be restored on April 2, 2025. pic.twitter.com/JywqTgfKIv

The team announced that they will be diverting water flow over the Horseshoe Falls for annual spring cleaning. But don’t worry too much, all the water will be restored by tomorrow.
