Flying is boring at the best of times, so it’s always a relief when your journey isn’t prolonged by a bunch of delays.
And thanks to a new report by Cirium, an aviation analytics company, we now know which airlines are least likely to keep you hanging around unnecessarily.
Cirium has published a list of the most on-time airlines in the world in 2024, and it was Aeromexico which claimed the accolade of punctuality. 87.73 percent of the airline’s flights took off on time and 86.7 percent of flights arrived on-time.
According to Cirium’s CMO Mike Malik, these results ‘reflect Aeromexico’s effective operational strategies, meticulous scheduling, and proactive approach to minimizing delays across its network.’
Aeromexico completed a total of 196,911 flights in 2024, but a much bigger airline also claimed a spot in the top three. Delta, which had more than 1.7 million flights in 2024, had a very good run of on-time departures (83.74 percent) and arrivals (83.46 percent) – which is impressive, given the airline’s reach.
In fact, only one other airline which had more than 600,000 flights made the roundup – and that was United Airlines, which claimed tenth place.
