Every vacation I take with my husband is time well spent, but anniversary trips are even more special. After visiting Hyatt Ziva Cancun for my cousin’s birthday a couple of years ago, I knew that I wanted to explore its sister property, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, with him. I thought visiting for our 20th wedding anniversary would be the perfect opportunity.

Plus, I’d heard great things about the area, which is renowned for its stunning natural beauty—making it a popular playground for celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, as well as Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, to name a few. I couldn’t wait to check out the destination and visit the all-inclusive Mexico resort to see for myself.

As soon as we arrived, I knew that we’d made the right decision. Our vacation was instantly kicked into high gear when staff members greeted us with refreshing welcome drinks and cold towels to cool down from our nearly six-hour flight from New York City. It was a great way to jumpstart what would be a blissful three nights celebrating two decades of unconditional love.

Here’s everything you need to know about staying at this beachfront Mexico property that’s a dream for couples seeking a romantic getaway.

The Rooms: Elevated Beach Chic With Contemporary Flair

Perched on the tip of the Baja California peninsula, the sprawling resort boasts 607 guest rooms and suites. My husband and I stayed in a redesigned 632-square-foot deluxe resort view suite in one of the newly renovated towers.

Rooms in this category are bathed in creamy neutral tones and feature a king-size bed, a sofa bed and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. Splashes of blue accents add colorful dimension like cascading waves rippling throughout the sand. The color scheme and eye-catching decor evoke a relaxing vibe that’s functional and comfortable.

Additionally, these rooms also have fully furnished terraces with grand views of the resort, gardens and sparkling pool. For couples who want to make a splash from the privacy of their suite, they can hop in the jetted hot tub or cool plunge pool for an intimate dip.

Other categories include oceanfront and swim-up suites for those who prefer an even more elevated experience with spacious accommodations and spectacular ocean views.

Amenities, Activities and Unexpected Perks for Couples

Like most resorts, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos offers a variety of activities for couples to enjoy. From hands-on cooking demos to mezcal tastings and swims by the adults-only pool bar, couples have seemingly endless ways to sip, savor and stay entertained.

During the day, we reserved a private cabana to make our poolside days more enjoyable and relaxing. Since it’s all-inclusive, I couldn’t resist ordering multiple coconut waters and shrimp ceviche. There’s nothing like lounging in a shaded cabana while indulging in tasty libations and delectable nibbles. Plus, the ultra-attentive service from staff members only elevated our experience.

Also, if the property is aware of your anniversary, you’ll be delighted with surprise treats throughout your stay. My husband and I received several sweet bites, in addition to bottles of champagne, to commemorate our special occasion.

The Spa: A Tranquil Respite to Awaken the Senses

Whenever my husband and I travel together, we try to book at least one spa treatment. For this trip, we had a relaxing couples massage. With every knead and rhythmic tap, I could feel the tension and stress melt away as my body slipped into pure relaxation. It was so soothing that I drifted off to sleep during my 60-minute session.

Guests who want to experience that level of serenity have plenty of options to choose from. The spa is housed in a two-story building inspired by the natural elements of water, air and earth and boasts 15 treatment rooms and a salon to cater to guests’ every pampering need. What’s more, it also features lavish steam baths and saunas, a plunge pool and a hydrotherapy circuit to get your circulation flowing.

Dining and Culinary Highlights at the Resort

Whether you’re craving traditional Mexican fare or in the mood for spicy Indian cuisine, you’re in luck. With 15 restaurants, bars and lounges on property, guests will have no trouble finding a good place to satisfy appetites and quench thirst at this property.

The best part? You can switch it up. Thanks to the all-inclusive dining format, you have the option to try a different eatery every day of your stay. However, keep in mind that some restaurants may require reservations for dinner so be sure to check with the hotel first.

If you’re like me and can’t settle on one type of cuisine, buffets are a sure bet. Since I appreciate a wide selection of dishes, for many of my meals I found myself at La Plaza Buffet, which features a variety of delicacies from around the world.

My husband and I also had a wonderful dining experience at Hacienda Baja Grill, which serves classic grilled meats with Latin flair. Although I’m more of a pescatarian than a meat lover, I still enjoyed my seafood dinner. It was cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful. My husband played it safe and ordered an Angus beef burger that he said was hearty with the ideal meat-to-bun ratio. Plus, the restaurant was dimly lit with an intimate ambiance—a bonus for lovey-dovey couples.

For an even more romantic evening, couples can arrange a private five-course dinner (at an additional cost) on the beach. This dinner was a highlight of our anniversary trip. The food was world-class, the weather was terrific and there weren’t any pesky mosquitoes looming to make us the sixth course.

While lunch and dinner are crucial, breakfast is arguably the most important meal of the day. To jumpstart our mornings, we headed over to the Healthy Bar for freshly squeezed juices and made-to-order fruit-based smoothies. This became our go-to after working out in the on-site gym.

Thanks to the plethora of dining options (and 24-hour room service), there’s never a chance for hunger pangs to kick in. Food and snacks are always a short walk or quick phone call away.

Why Couples Keep Coming Back to This Baja California Hotel

For couples seeking a romantic getaway along the Pacific coast that packs all the amenities and perks of an all-inclusive resort, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos answers the call. The unique desert-meets-ocean landscape sets it apart from similar resorts. Plus, the low-key vibe also distinguishes it from Cancun’s party scene, offering a quiet-luxe twist.

Guests have shared their experiences about their stays: “My husband and I booked this resort for our 20th wedding anniversary,” one commenter said on TripAdvisor. “The resort is beautiful, and every single staff member is kind, efficient and seems to genuinely care about the wellbeing of their guests.”

Another mentioned how it was the perfect place for their parents’ 50th anniversary: “We gathered to celebrate our parents’ 50th anniversary, and your staff helped make this milestone truly memorable,” said one commenter. “This was my second time visiting, and once again, it was a great experience.”

My husband and I would also return to the resort—and not just for our anniversary. With spacious accommodations and a wide array of restaurants and bars, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos offers couples the perfect escape, no special occasion required.
