Weather forecasts are handy, but realistically you can’t guarantee constant sun when you’re booking your holiday, nor can you do anything about it when you arrive. That hasn’t rattled the confidence of this luxury hotel though, as they’re promising a complimentary one-night stay to those who visit in the winter for each day that isn’t sunny.

Yes, you did read that correctly. The offer comes from City of Dreams Mediterranean on the south coast of Cyprus (less than an hour’s drive from Paphos). The island is considered the sunniest place in Europe – it is graced with rays 340 days of the year, after all.

To get into the nitty gritty, a day that fails to fill City of Dreams’ ‘Sunshine Guarantee’ is a day that has less than 70 percent direct sunlight between 9 am and 5 pm (which will be measured based on data from AccuWeather.com).

‘There’s nothing worse than planning your holiday to escape the cold and having the weather turn when you arrive at your destination,’ says senior vice president of City of Dreams Mediterranean Grant Johnson, ‘We’re blessed with sun almost every day in Cyprus, but to put our guests’ minds at ease, we’ll invite them back (on us) if they don’t get sun while they’re here.’

But it’s not just the hotel stay that you’ll be entitled to. Complimentary excursions such as hikes, winery tours and more will be thrown in as well, just to make sure your experience is as fabulous as possible. Anyone else praying for clouds now? Same.

Rooms here start at around £228 (€272) per night, but there’s a 15 percent discount on all bookings made before November 30 for stays up until December 20, 2024. You can read more about it all here
