What a crossover! Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul took to Instagram to post a hilarious “audition” video to become the next star of The Bachelorette on June 17, 2025.
“Sending this in for my chance as the next Bachelorette,” says text on the video in which Paul’s lip-synching to audio of Lindsay Lohan while doing chores and cleaning up around the house. The fitting soundtrack draws poignant parallels between Lohan and Paul’s past situations: legal woes, fueling gossip, and being unlucky in love.
“I’m taking matters into my own hands, here is my audition,” Paul wrote in the caption. Friends and fans alike immediately rushed to the comments to give the idea their stamp of approval. “I’d watch so quick 👀” wrote Mormon Wives costar Mikayla Matthews, who also tagged ABC to show her support. “This sound is gold for you,” added Jessi Ngatikaura, who also stars on TSLOMW.
In February, Deadline reported that the longtime ABC staple was put on pause and wouldn’t be airing in 2025, and some speculated that it may be due to ratings declines and stale storylines. Fans think Paul could breathe new life into the franchise.
“You may be the only one powerful enough to save the Bachelor franchise,” said one fan, while another added, “I’ve never watched the Bachelorette before but I will if it’s you girly!
Some Bachelor Nation icons even agreed, with former Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise star Raven Gates writing, “Absolutely,” and former Bachelor lead Nick Viall’s wife Natalie Joy Viall adding, “immediately,” and tagging Bachelor producers for added visibility.
Recent Bachelorette contestant Hakeem Moulton was also in support of the idea, but insisted the producers work extra hard in finding Paul an appropriate cast of men. “Nahhh fr we need to make this happen and all the contestants would make sure to come correct too on god because we don’t want no smoke with Taylor 🙅🏾♂️ 🙈.”
Bachelor and Bachelorette leads are usually selected from the previous pool of contestants, but casting someone from outside of the franchise isn’t unprecedented. In 2021, Matt James was announced as the bachelor despite never being a contestant on The Bachelorette. He was a friend of former contestant Tyler Cameron, and was cast for season 16 of The Bachelorette, but never appeared on the show because filming was delayed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has done some promotion with The Bachelor; A few of the stars even appeared in the audience during parts of the 2025 live Bachelor specials, and both shows appear on Hulu. With Paul being officially separated from former flame Dakota Mortensen, now would be the perfect time for her to try her hand at love on a different kind of reality show!
