Eastern Ontario has so much to offer, including adorable towns like Kemptville. Kemptville, Ontario is located about 50 km south of downtown Ottawa, a small but mighty spot that has some pretty cool backstories including being the backdrop for a popular horror film.

The Blackcoat’s Daughter & other movies

If you’re a fan of horror films then you may have been “The Blackcoat’s Daughter”. The horror film stars Emma Roberts and was filmed in the heritage buildings and on the grounds of the Kemptville Campus.

That’s not the only movie filmed in Kemptville, Ontario!

From spooky to something a little more cheerful – the Lifetime made-for-tv movie “The Candy Cane Candidate” was also filmed here.

Filming locations were in Old Town Kemptville at the old North Grenville District High School and on Prescott Street.

Olivia Holt was the star of another movie filmed in town as well called “Turkey Drop”.

This production was in Old Town Kemptville, too.

Other things to do

Want to check out one of the filming spots? Kemptville Campus is made up of a series of trails and they’re stunning this time of year.

One of the most popular trails is the Sugar Bush Trail. The 1.6 km loop boasts beautiful colours in the fall all under the beautiful, mature maples of an operating sugarbush.

The Ferguson Forest Centre Arboretum is a great spot to spend time outdoors, too.

Spanning around 10 hectares (25 acres), the area offers a serene space for public use with beaches, forested areas and groomed paths.

Kemptville, Ontario is calling!
