Ready for some fall hiking adventures? Here’s one you can’t skip out on! Plan your next fall day trip to Tay Township and explore this hidden hiking gem – the Tay Shore trail.

You’ll need to head two hours north of Toronto to Penetanguishene, a sister city to Midland, Ontario. According to Destination Ontario, the two “are only the beginning of a much bigger, brighter, and adventurous region.”

Though there is lots to do in this wonderful region, we’re here for hikes. And one of those just so happens to be Tay Shore Trail, an 18-kilometre paved recreational trail that connects both Waubaushene and Penetanguishene/Midland.

Per Destination Ontario, it offers scenic views through forests and even Georgian Bay.

It’s a multi-use trail that is part of the Trans Canada Trail.

According to Simcoe County Trails, this fully paved rail trail winds along the southern shore of Georgian Bay and offers a ride through history with interpretive nature signs on the way.

Why not take a look at the Heart of Georgian Bay Road and Trail map for more adventures? There are advanced trails like the 75km long Thunder Beach Loop that starts on Main Street in Penetanguishene.

Now that’s an adventure!
