Roaring rapids and crashing waves will soon be part of your spring itinerary because the famous White Water Walk in Niagara Falls opens for the season this April. Get up close to some of North America’s most powerful whitewater rapids.

Visitors will be able to explore the White Water Walk and embark on a journey like no other, starting April 30, 2026.

You’ll have the chance to experience the power of the rapids as you stroll along a stunning boardwalk.

White Water Walk

According to Niagara Parks, the Niagara River’s Class 6 whitewater rapids are among the wildest in North America.

To get an up close and personal experience, visitors will descend 70 metres to the base of the Niagara Gorge via an elevator. Here’s where they will be met with an impressive boardwalk that runs along the shoreline of the Niagara River.

“Prepare to be immediately immersed in the soothing roar of North America’s largest series of standing waves the moment you step out from the exit tunnel,” shares Niagara Parks.

“Make your way down the riverside boardwalk as you take in the crashing waves and enjoy an excellent view of the 410-million-year-old rock layers of the Niagara Gorge.”

The boardwalk and platforms

The boardwalk stretches 305 meters (1/4 mile) and features stairs leading to several viewing platforms at the edge of the river.

Here, visitors get to see the breathtaking Whirlpool Rapids as they flow at a speed of 48 km/hr. According to Niagara Parks, these platforms offer some of the best photo opportunities in the park.

Believe it or not, this experience is only 4 km north of Niagara Falls. It’s also easily accessible via the WEGO bus route.
