My friends won’t stop talking about this personality quiz and now I know why. It’s called “What vegetable are you?” and you can take it online via GitHub. (I used my phone to take it, but it works just as well on a computer.)
This entire week, my group chats have been filled with people sending screenshots of their quiz results — I learned I’m a carrot. But this is not your average personality quiz. This ode to produce contains a hidden secret and just might be the cutest thing I show you this week.
The quiz was created by GitHub user Sophie006liu and features adorable digital art of anthropomorphized veggie characters fit for a children’s picture book. It starts off with a pretty simple question about what snack you would bring to a hangout, but quickly evolves into an entirely different experience.
Now, I’m going to add a spoiler warning, which might seem silly, but I want to give readers the chance to experience the quiz without knowing the twist.

If you’ve already taken the quiz, you are now privvy to the many mysteries behind the veggies and we can talk about how this is not just another little personality quiz. It’s a whole dang text adventure game nestled within a quiz.
As you play, your answers will guide you and your veggie friends along different narrative paths. I took it a few times. One time, I went to space and the other try I traveled to a kingdom of cheese. Even little decisions appear to have a significant impact on your path — I was pleasantly impressed!
“What vegetable are you?” reminded me of Frog Fractions, but not as elaborate. Frog Fractions took a similar turn after being disguised as a simple math game. The best part was that my friends and even my partner didn’t mention anything beyond the personality quiz element, so I didn’t know anything about the adventure side of it. And there’s nothing like an unexpected moment of joy in a week.
