Have you ventured to the easternmost island in the Gulf Islands? If not, it’s time to add Saturna Island to your list of must-visit places in British Columbia.

Nearly half of the island is protected parkland as part of the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, including oceanside parks, forest, and the “see-forever views” from Brown Ridge.

Visitors can join the 300-some residents of Saturna in onshore whale-watching, playing disc golf at Thomson Park, kayaking and cycling, and taking in the natural beauty at Thomson Regional Park, East Point Regional Park and plenty of public beaches.

According to Tourism Vancouver Island, visitors are greeted by a slew of art studios, a pub, and a general store, and can journey to the historic East Point Lighthouse for spectacular views year-round.

Visitors can arrive by a ferry transfer from Mayne Island or by floatplane.

Another reason to visit? The charming island gets less rain than either Victoria or Vancouver, despite being situated between the two. So if you’re looking for a Raincouver escape this upcoming season, it’s worth planning a trip to Saturna!

So there you have it, BC! Enjoy your year-round escape to nature.
