Leavenworth, Washington, is among the best Christmas towns in the US.
As the holiday season rolls through, and if you’re looking to spread and receive some joy, festive towns are a great place to start. And like years prior, Leavenworth was considered one of the most festive towns in the nation, according to Travel and Leisure this year.
“Nothing quite compares to the joy of seeing a town bedecked with holiday decorations. The sight of boughs of holly and string lights can warm you even in the coldest temperatures,” states Travel and Leisure.
“Everyone wants to spend Christmas in a town like that, seemingly plucked from a Hallmark movie, and there are plenty of them dotted all around the U.S.”
They outlined the “25 Best Christmas Towns in the U.S.” from coast to coast, with Leavenworth making it at spot number 19.
While it is located in Washington’s Cascade Mountains, Travel and Leisure says that “it looks more like a portal to Germany.”
“The town was built to resemble a traditional Bavarian village, and the nearby mountains, poetically named the Enchantments, are reminiscent of the Alps. More than half a million lights go up across town in late November and don’t come down until February,” it continues.
“You can see them any day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Weekends are often full of holiday activities like gingerbread house displays, caroling, and frequent appearances by Santa.”
