Tom Hanks’ sonChet Hanks claims to be stranded in Colombia without a passport.
In a video shared to his Instagram on Friday, Feb. 27, the 35-year-old actor and musician began the story by saying he traveled to Puerto Rico last week for his “homie Max’s birthday party” before deciding to take a detour to Medellin, Colombia to visit a pal named Taylor.
However, while at the Colombia airport before his return flight to the U.S., Chet was alerted he wouldn’t be able to go back home just yet.
“I’m traveling with my Greek passport because I’m a dual citizen,” he said, noting he didn’t use his American passport because it’s about to expire. “Sometimes they don’t let you in the country, even if it hasn’t expired, but it’s about to expire.”
“I go to the airport to check in [for] my flight three hours early,” he continued. “This is an international flight. They tell me that if I’m using a foreign passport, I need a green card to get back into America.”
Chet then explained that he doesn’t have a green card because he’s an American citizen, adding he’s “literally stuck in Colombia. I’m stuck in Medellin.”
“Granted, there’s worse places to be stuck, but I literally have no f–king idea what I’m gonna do, and the only embassy to get this s–t settled is in Bogota,” he said.
Chet also hared that he doesn’t “want to go to Bogota,” which is roughly an hour away from Medellin by plane.
“Free me,” he captioned the post.
In the comment section, fans offered Chet some advice—suggesting he lean on his famous father and mother Rita Wilson.
“Better call someone in your family to have them FedEx your passport to you ASAP,” one fan suggested. “The one time you should’ve pulled the ‘my dad is…’ card.” wrote another.
“You better call your daddy!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂,” added a third.
