Bars and restaurants in Toronto with extended last call on New Year’s Eve 2025 will be keeping the party going well into the wee hours, long after the rest of the city has closed up shop for the night.

While I, as a perpetually sleepy person, tend to cap off my own New Year’s celebrations no more than thirty minutes past midnight (a girl’s got to get her beauty sleep!), I can also recognize the allure of staying out on the town until the sun rises, really soaking up the first moments of a new year, and I’m not alone.

Each year, the holiday sees scores of celebrants flocking to parties at bars, restaurants and nightclubs across the city, bidding farewell to another year gone by and welcoming the promise of the incumbent one.

For this exact reason, plenty of those establishments will opt to extend their hours for maximum party potential — so if you’re not like me, you can keep the good times rolling as long as you want.

Per the Liquor Licence and Control Act, all licensed establishments in the city are authorized to stay open until 3 a.m. on the holiday should they choose to, but a select few are upping the ante by extending their last call even further for you real night owls out there.

According to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, there are only five establishments in the city, as of the time of writing, that have been approved to extend their last call to 4 a.m. on New Year’s Eve.

The first is Early Mercy, who’ll be giving a new meaning to “going out with a bang,” as New Year’s Eve doubles as the club’s last night in operation. It seems only fitting, then, that they stretch out the good times as long as possible.

You can also opt to party it up into the wee hours of the morning at one of the city’s oldest bars this New Year’s Eve, with Queen West’s The Paddock also boasting an extended last call.

Swanky O&B steak and sushi restaurant Aera, which is located atop The Well, has also gotten the go-ahead, alongside the Phoenix Concert Theatre, no doubt revelling in the recent news of its lease extension, delaying the eventual closure of the venue.

Finally, for a more subdued celebration (nothing wrong with that), head to Drom Taberna, which is also on Queen West, for an evening of live music performances happening at 8 p.m., 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m., alongside Eastern European eats and cold pints.

As is the case every New Year’s for the past several years, the TTC, GO Transit and the UP Express will be free all night long, starting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31 and ending at 8 a.m. on Jan. 1, so no matter where you go (and at what time) you can get there safely.
