In 1973, architect Blake Millar designed 80 North Dr. in Etobicoke, reportedly as a homage to Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Fallingwater.

And you can definitely see some of Wright’s iconic design principles at play.

For example, the way the home integrates with its natural surroundings and truly invites the outdoors in is undoubtedly a nod to Wright’s love of harmony with nature in his designs

The front entrance.

But when you look at the surrounding property, it’s easy to understand why all the design choices are so nature-inspired.

A patio overlooking the trees.

80 North Dr. is tucked away on a large 50 by 458-foot lot surrounded by mature trees. A creek running through the backyard completes the picture of an urban oasis.

The foyer.

But wait, there’s more!

The kitchen.

Even though the home has been updated to include modern touches like Control4 automation and a chef-worthy kitchen, the mid-century modernist charm of the home shines through.

The living room with a wood burning fireplace.

You’ve got exposed beams, walnut and yew panelling, and luxurious Brazilian teak floors.

The primary ensuite.

The home’s design is also simplistic, with lots of clean, simple lines, an open-concept floor plan, and possibly more windows than walls—all elements that are often featured in Wright homes.

The primary bedroom.

These elements really shine in places like the primary bedroom suite, where you have stunning views across the treetops.

The open-concept living areas on the main floor are designed to promote mingling and conversation.

A sunken sitting room.

As realtor Rose Barroso writes in the listing brochure, 80 North Dr. was created with entertaining in mind, so it’s no surprise that this home provides the perfect backdrop for any event.

The living room that flows outdoors.

Plus, the effortless indoor-outdoor flow allows guests to move smoothly between the stylish interiors and the beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces.

The backyard pool.

The backyard features a heated swimming pool, a cabana and an outdoor shower.

The primary bedroom.

In short, the three-bedroom, five-bathroom home is stunning.

The dining room.

So stunning in fact, that 80 North Dr. even caught our eye back in 2016.

A home office.

We wrote about the home when it was listed for a somewhat reasonable $3,725,000.

A freestanding bathtub in the bedroom so you can soak while you soak in the views.

Now, in the year 2024, 80 North Dr. is listed for $8,500,000.

The home is close to St. Georges golf course.

The price is in part a reflection of the bonkers real estate market we live in, but there’s no denying that the home is a beauty.

There’s also an outdoor kitchen for summertime dining.

And beautiful things, like 80 North Dr., are totally worth the big bucks.
