Here are just some of the well-paying open positions with the City of Toronto.

Budget Coordinator 

This role with the Children’s Services, Contract & Financial Management division pays anywhere from $93,734 to $123,449, depending on your experience, which should include a post-secondary degree in business administration, accounting, economics, or finance. 

If selected, you’ll be responsible for analyzing operating and capital budgets, funding requests, audited financial statements, and financial management reports. As a result, you’ll need extensive experience in preparing and analyzing budgets against established funding criteria. 

Consultant – Human Rights 

If you’re interested in supporting the City’s work in advancing human rights, accessibility, equity, and reconciliation, this high-paying position might be right for you. The successful candidate will provide expert advice to employees, managers, and residents on the City’s human rights-related policies and processes. 

To qualify, you’ll need post-secondary education in a professional discipline related to the job function or a Law degree (LLB or JD), which would be considered an asset. You’ll also need demonstrated experience in alternative dispute resolution processes and undertaking harassment/discrimination investigations. This position pays anywhere from $93,734 to $123,449.

Nurse Practitioner 

The City is currently on the lookout for a qualified Nurse Practitioner to join its Seniors Services and Long-Term Care division. This role pays anywhere from $63.16 to $68.34 per hour (or $114,951.20 to $124,378.80 per year) and requires experience in long-term care, acute care, or rehabilitation setting. 

The successful applicant will deliver primary health care to residents in a long-term care home in the management of acute and chronic medical conditions, therapeutic management, health promotion, as well as disease and injury prevention. Candidates need to be a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (Primary Health Care or Adult) with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess certification in Geriatric Nursing from the Canadian Nursing Association. 

Assistant Planner

If you have completed any post-secondary education in urban planning or urban geography, you might want to check out this open position with the City’s Planning division. Responsibilities for this role include collecting and analyzing data on demographic, economic, legal, social, and cultural information relating to urban and regional land use planning. 

Alongside your education, you’ll also need a membership or be eligible for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners. The hourly wage for this role is between $43.49 to $47.64 for 35 hours per week (approximately $79,151.80 to $86,704.80). 

Financial Systems Analyst 

Do you have a degree in accounting, financial management, or business administration? If so, then this role with the City’s Housing Secretariat, Finance & Business Services division might match your qualifications. 

If selected, you’ll be responsible for providing an overall revenue, financial, and accounting service to the division through research, financial analysis, variance analysis, subsidy revenue, and cash management. Working toward or possessing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset for this role, which pays between $78,429 and $102,021.

Communications and Engagement Consultant 

If you boast considerable experience in the areas of marketing, public relations, media relations, or social media engagement, this role with Ombudsman Toronto could earn you anywhere from $86,716 to $112,255. 

As a communications consultant, you’ll be responsible for providing advice and leading Ombudsman Toronto’s communication, outreach, and engagement with Toronto communities, City divisions, corporations, and local boards, as well as recommending and implementing detailed plans. Along with your experience, you’ll need post-secondary education in communications or public relations. 

Zoning Examiner 

The City is also looking for a qualified Zoning Examiner to join its team, who will be responsible for examining and approving plans submitted for compliance with zoning bylaws. The perfect candidate would have experience reading and interpreting bylaws, as well as experience reading and interpreting surveys and architectural drawings for compliance with zoning bylaws. 

To qualify, you’ll need a post-secondary degree or diploma in a discipline such as urban planning, architectural technology, science of building design, or civil engineering technology. The hourly wage for this role is between $51.19 and $56.07, which comes out to an annual salary in the 93,165.80 to 102,047.40 range.
