Our morning routines consist of a delicious, hearty breakfast and freshly brewed coffee. But when we’re on the run, a few minutes behind schedule, a cup of coffee will suffice. To be honest, it’s a non-negotiable. For many in Toronto, it’s almost a morning ritual – whether it’s made at home or picked up at a local coffee shop. Thankfully, the city is booming with local cafes, many of which have gained global recognition. Actually, just recently, a coffee shop in Scarborough was recognized as one of the best in the world.

The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops dropped its 2026 winners, highlighting global cafes, some of which were new to the list.

Canadian winners

Out of the hundred named in this year’s edition, three were Canadian – Nemesis Coffee in Vancouver, Little Victories in Ottawa, and our local champ, Seven Mystery in Toronto.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, the Toronto-based coffee shop gave thanks to the organizers for recognizing them on a large platform.

“As a new entry on this list, this recognition means even more to us,” read the post.

“From day one until now, we’ve just been focusing on one thing, making good coffee, doing things properly, and building something we truly believe in. Step by step, cup by cup, detail by detail.”

The World’s 100 Best list highlights Seven Mystery’s commitments to “quality, precision, and long-term consistency.”

The cafe works closely with others through their roasting facility, where they offer thoughtfully developed coffees and refined roasting solutions.

“This recognition doesn’t belong to one person,” shared the Seven Mystery team. “It belongs to our whole team who shows up every day and gives their best, and to everyone who has supported us, trusted us, and grown with us.”
