A shocking road rage incident is making the viral rounds on social media, showing a Toronto Uber driver dashing from his vehicle mid-trip to pursue a cyclist, all while confused passengers record from the back seat.

The video shows an exchange of words between a cyclist and the Uber driver in question just outside of Maple Leaf Gardens at Carlton and Church.

The cyclist is then seen turning left onto Church Street from Carlton, at which point the Uber driver exits the vehicle in pursuit, running across multiple lanes of traffic before catching up with the cyclist and disappearing around the corner.

Multiple shocked passengers can be heard laughing in complete disbelief at what they were witnessing.

The video, posted to TikTok on September 22, has garnered almost 200,000 likes and close to 3,000 comments as of writing.

“Toronto at its finest,” wrote one user.

Another commenter joked that the ride should have earned the driver “5 stars for entertainment.”

While some seemed to get some entertainment value out of the incident, a spokesperson for Uber told blogTO that “this behaviour is concerning.”

“We want every Uber experience to feel safe, respectful and positive, and we have reached out to the user for more details so we can investigate,” they added.

The transportation platform’s community guidelines specifically state that “aggressive, confrontational or harassing behaviour,” such as what was witnessed in this incident, “is not allowed.”

Uber riders are encouraged to report such incidents via the app or through Uber’s Safety Incident Reporting line.
