Toronto now has its first urban Simons, as a massive new store officially opened on Thursday.

The two-level, 118,000-square-foot space at Yorkdale Shopping Centre will provide shoppers with plenty of room to browse and explore.

Until now, Torontonians had to make the trek to places like Square One in Mississauga to experience a full Simons store.

The Yorkdale location is just the beginning — a second Toronto store is set to open at CF Toronto Eaton Centre later in 2025, bringing the total to four in Ontario. Nationwide, this is the retailer’s 18th store.

According to a press release from Simons, the Yorkdale opening is part of a $100 million investment that is expected to create 400 new jobs in the GTA. Simons has been family-run since its founding in 1840 in Quebec City, and the Toronto launch marks a new chapter for the company in Canada’s largest city.

Inside, the store combines fashion, art, and technology. Shoppers can find Canadian-designed collections for men, women, and home, organized in boutique-style sections alongside well-known brands and designer pieces.

Simons’ private labels at Yorkdale include Twik, Icône, Contemporaine, Miiyu, Le 31, Djab, i.FiV5, and Simons Maison, covering everything from streetwear and modern classics to home décor.

Art is also front and centre. The store features a “Walk of Frames” with 40 works by 24 artists, as well as digital installations created in collaboration with Montreal’s Rodeo FX. This studio worked on Game of Thrones and Stranger Things. The animated visuals aim to bring both the interior and exterior of the store to life, adding an immersive, gallery-like element to the shopping experience.

The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., offering shoppers ample opportunities to browse.

Simons says the space was designed to feel open, bright, and welcoming, making it easy for shoppers to explore. With its mix of curated fashion, Canadian art, and interactive displays, the Yorkdale store shows how the retailer strives to blend shopping with experience in a way that’s new for Toronto.
