Get your lederhosen and dirndls! Toronto’s beloved and authentic Oktoberfest celebration is back this September. Experience this Bavarian bash through food, drinks, music, and dance for two full days. Here are the deets.
Toronto’s favourite fall festival kicks off this September 27th and 28th at its newest location, inside the Downsview Airport Lands Airplane Hangar.
Expect non-stop fun with polka music, authentic Schuhplattler dancers, German rock bands, an Oktoberfest cabaret show, DJs, contests, games, and so much more.
It’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a true Bavarian Village through sounds and also flavours. Indulge in a wide selection of German and European beers and spirits.
There will also be a handful of food vendors serving up Oktoberfest classics and modern twists on Bavarian fare.
And of course, there will be non-alcoholic, vegan, and gluten-free options available, too!
You’ll want to arrive early as the first 500 people who attend the event will get a free 1 L glass beer stein.
Attendees are encouraged to wear something traditional and if you arrive early enough, you can buy an outfit at the festival while quantities last.
There are a few ground rules you should know before you go, according to Oktoberfest’s website.
The rules are to “introduce yourself to strangers,” “compliment your tablemates and take care of your friends (old and new),” and most importantly “eat, drink, sing, mingle, dance and attempt to speak German.”
Festival FAQs
The first evening of the festival on September 27th will see the Tapping of the Keg from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM, Saturday will host the Volksfest Carnival from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM and the evening will end with its Ein Prosit Closing Party from 6 PM to 11:30 PM.
According to organizers, there will be themed Oktoberfest shuttle buses that will be provided from Wilson Subway station and the Downsview Go Train station.
As for tickets, you can get your hands on them for GA and VIP based on the experience you’d like to attend.
