Small acts of kindness can go a long way, especially in today’s world.

And Spark Charity Foundation lives by that statement. Launched in September of 2024, the organization supports and empowers less fortunate individuals and fellow charities by organizing fundraising events.

Support the Blazer is one of Spark Charity Foundation’s campaigns, and everyone can get involved.

What it’s all about

Support the Blazer is an annual, community-driven initiative that inspires generosity. This year, the campaign is focused on connection — bringing people together, uniting participants across the GTA and beyond, and highlighting the meaningful relationships that grow when we give back.

The campaign is led by Spark Charity Foundation’s President Nick Regina, who wears a blazer for 30 consecutive days. Now in its fourth year, Nick is calling on community members to join him.

Participants, collectively known as The Good People Army, are encouraged to wear this year’s signature blazer alongside Nick, promoting a culture of giving in a creative and heartfelt way. Those who don the blazers choose which charity they want to support and add patches to their blazer to represent their cause.

At the end of the campaign, 10 per cent of all the money raised will be put into a pool and shared between the charities.

“Support the Blazer is about giving back, creating meaningful change, and leaving the world a better place than we found it,” says Nick. “When you put on that blazer, you’re not just making a fashion statement — you’re joining a community of incredible people united by purpose, generosity, and the desire to make a real impact.”

And it truly does make a real impact. In fact, just last year, the Support the Blazer campaign raised a whopping $102,498 for Waves of Changes for Autism, a charity that supports kids with autism in Vaughan.

This year, Support the Blazer will be raising money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities® Toronto, along with the various other charities chosen by participants.

This week, Curiocity attended the Support the Blazer launch party to learn a little more about the cause and effort that goes into this incredible campaign.

I heard from Nick, who shared the story behind the blazer.

Once when he was travelling, his luggage got lost, leaving him with a single floral shirt to wear for his whole trip. This sparked the idea for support the shirt which turned into wearing a blazer for 30 days as a fun way to “give back to the community and build a story around it.”

The night also included several impact speeches from community members, who emphasized the importance of connection and support created by this campaign.

I even got to hear from a mother whose sons spent time in the NICU at SickKids, while she and her husband stayed at the Ronald McDonald House® Toronto. The support of RMHC® Toronto was essential in allowing them to stay close to their children during a difficult time.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd, though the tears were softened by the son donating his own $10 to the cause. “I know $10 may not seem like a lot, but to a seven-year-old it is,” he exclaimed.

Between some snacks, drinks, and amazing conversation, it was obvious how much love goes into something like Support the Blazer.

This year’s goal is to raise one million dollars, and based on the amount of passion that’s already gone into it, I not only have full faith it’ll happen, but I can’t recommend donating to the campaign more.

Join the celebrations

Donations can be made via the campaign’s donation form, from Sept. 18 to Oct. 18, or you can take it up a notch and attend the Support the Blazer Gala. This elegant gala-meets-nightclub experience will feature an open bar, a gourmet plated dinner, DJs, and midnight snacks to keep the celebration going.

The Gala takes place on Oct. 18, with tickets starting at $250.
