Trudeau to travel to NYC for Global Citizen summit

Washington –

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is heading to New York next week for an international summit defending sustainable development and human rights.

Summit organizer Global Citizen proposes the event as a forum to address some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity and the planet.

Prime Minister Trudeau will join other world leaders, artists and musicians to advocate for women’s rights at an April 27-28 event, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Other scheduled attendees include French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley.

Prime Minister Trudeau is also expected to speak to the Council on Foreign Relations about the importance of Canada-US relations, critical mineral supply chains and the country’s economic outlook.

The visit follows President Joe Biden’s visit to Ottawa last month, making it his first visit to Canada since taking office in 2021.
