Twisted Metal’s first seasons was surprisingly good, which why it’s so exciting that the show is getting a second chance at blowing up later this year. On Thursday, Peacock announced that Twisted Metal season 2 will be released on July 31. The announcement came with a brief teaser trailer and a few images that show off some of the show’s characters with their updated season 2 looks.

The trailer itself doesn’t show much, but it does seem to go hand in hand with the ending of season 1, suggesting that the show is likely on its way to the Twisted Metal demolition derby tournament the series gets its name from. And the images support that theory too, with shots of John Doe (Anthony Mackie), Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), Sweet Tooth (voiced by Will Arnett), and more driving their cars head to head against other drivers in what sure seems like a deathmatch. Even better, we get a shot of Anthony Carrigan as Calypso, the creator and host of the Twisted Metal tournament.

Of course, as Twisted Metal gets closer to its summer release, we’ll likely get a longer trailer that gives us at least a few more details about what’s going on in season 2. The second season of the show will once again be written and showrun by Michael Jonathan Smith, as well as executive produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
