Two of America’s most beloved retailers, Walmart and its warehouse subsidiary, Sam’s Club, are embarking on a significant expansion, with six new large-format locations set to open by this fall.

The move is part of a broader strategy to enhance their physical presence and modernize the shopping experience for customers nationwide. “We are not limited by our physicality — we are enabled by it,” Sam’s Club President and CEO Chris Nicholas said during the company’s 2025 Investment Community Meeting, per USA Today. “Our omnichannel model creates more opportunities to engage with members where they are, and how they want to shop.”

It was previously announced in a January 2024 press release that Walmart had plans to build or convert more than 150 stores, in addition to begin renovations on more than 650 locations across 47 states.

Earlier this year, the company also shared its plans to renovate all 600 Sam’s Clubs locations, “open 30 new clubs as originally announced in 2023 and build “a pipeline to open approximately 15 new clubs each year,” the outlet noted.

Shoppers can expect five new Walmart openings by the end of September 2025 in the following locations: Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Mountain View, California; Eagle Mountain, Utah; Milton, Florida; and Pace, Florida.

Additionally, a Sam’s Club is coming to Tempe, Arizona, in August.
