SUSQUEHANNA, Pa. – Two Pennsylvania state troopers were shot while responding to a call in Susquehanna County on Thursday afternoon, according to Gov. Josh Shapiro, who broke the news during an event in Bucks County.
What we know:
According to Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Thursday at around 11:17 a.m., State Troopers responded to an incident near State Route 171 in Thompson Township, Susquehanna County.
During the encounter, police say a man opened fire on the responding troopers.
PSP says the armed suspect refused to comply with commands, and was ultimately shot and killed during the incident.
The PSP Troopers, identified as Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins, sustained serious injuries after being shot and were airlifted to a medical facility for treatment.
Both troopers were hospitalized and have been listed in stable condition.
The investigation is active and ongoing.

“It is an active situation, and at the conclusion of this event I plan to head there myself,” Gov. Shapiro said.
