A major announcement has thrilled figure skating fans as Olympic champion Alysa Liu is set to make a special appearance at a high-profile gala in New York City this spring.
The event, scheduled for May 18, will take place at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in Midtown Manhattan and is expected to bring together sports stars, artists and community leaders for a night of celebration and purpose.

The trio, known as the “Blade Angels,” represented Team USA at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics and played a key role in securing gold for the United States.
“The Blade Angels are coming to Harlem. ⛸️✨,” the organization shared. “This year’s Igniting the Dream Gala features special appearances from Team USA’s Blade Angels: Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, and Isabeau Levito!”
Liu’s presence is especially significant following her historic Olympic run. At the 2026 Winter Games, she captured gold in the women’s singles competition, marking the first time in 24 years that an American woman achieved the feat. She also contributed to Team USA’s gold medal victory in the team event, cementing her status as one of the sport’s brightest stars.
Her fellow “Blade Angels” also made strong impressions during the Games. Glenn finished fifth, while Levito placed 12th in the women’s singles competition. Together, they have become known not only for their performances on the ice but also for their friendship and positive influence on the sport.
Proceeds from the event will support programs designed to empower young girls in New York City through figure skating and education. The organization focuses on building confidence, leadership skills and academic success among under-resourced youth.
Beyond competition, Liu has remained in the spotlight with a series of high-profile appearances and viral moments. Recently, she drew attention online after appearing in a playful dance video with Glenn during practice.
This blend of athletic success and cultural crossover has made Liu one of the most recognizable faces in figure skating today. Her journey, from early retirement after the 2022 Olympics to a remarkable comeback and double Olympic gold in 2026, continues to inspire fans worldwide.
The “Igniting the Dream” Gala will also honor notable figures who have contributed to the organization’s mission. Among them are Olympic judge Tina Lundgren, recognized for over 15 years of support, and Tony Award-winning actress Anika Noni Rose, celebrated for her work in arts education and philanthropy.
Fans and supporters alike now have the chance to witness the “Blade Angels” up close as they continue to redefine the future of figure skating.
