U.S. Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim is clearing the air after a fake image made it look like her boyfriend, Myles Garrett, proposed to her at the 2026 Winter Olympics. And while the picture fooled some fans, and even a fellow Olympian, Kim says one detail made it very clear the photo was not real.

Her comment quickly became the highlight of the interview, as she laughed off the viral moment and urged fans not to believe everything they see online.

The 25-year-old snowboarder explained during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that the AI-generated image showed Garrett down on one knee during the 2026 Winter Games in Italy. The photo spread fast on social media, with many people thinking the couple had gotten engaged.

Kim said she first learned about the fake proposal from fellow Olympian Lindsey Vonn, who texted her to say congratulations.

“I hope she doesn’t get mad at me for sharing this,” Kim said. “She texts me, she’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, congrats.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, thank you. But you already congratulated me for my medal.’ She’s like, ‘On the engagement.’ I’m like, ‘What?’”

After that, Kim searched her own name online and saw the edited image. Kim wasted no time pointing out the problems in the fake picture. First, she noticed she was already wearing a ring on her left hand in the image, even though the proposal was supposed to be happening in that exact moment.

That didn’t make sense to her.

Her mom also saw the picture and was not fooled. Kim shared that her mother told her, “You would never wear something like that,” referring to the outfit shown in the edited photo.

But it was Garrett’s sunglasses that really gave it away.

“Two, he’s wearing sunglasses,” Kim joked. “I don’t want my man to propose to me with sunglasses on.”

Even though the proposal photo was fake, Kim and Garrett have been open about their relationship. The two first appeared together publicly in May 2025 and later confirmed they were dating.

Garrett traveled to Italy to support Kim during the Winter Games. Instead of bringing an engagement ring, he brought a camera to document her Olympic journey. He was also seen wearing custom gear featuring Kim’s face, cheering her on from the stands.

At the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, Kim earned a silver medal in the women’s halfpipe. She competed while dealing with a shoulder injury that made training and competing much harder. Despite the pain and pressure, she finished on the podium once again, adding to her already impressive Olympic record.

For now, though, wedding bells are not ringing. Kim made it clear that if a proposal ever does happen, she has one simple request: no sunglasses.
