Under Canvas has announced plans to open its first Pacific Northwest location in Washington’s Columbia River Gorge region. The new camp, Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge, is expected to open on May 29, 2025, and will accept stay reservations through October 27, 2025.

The camp is the company’s thirteenth venture and is located on a 120-acre property along the Columbia River Gorge in the White Salmon River Valley. The location offers a scenic view of Mount Hood and is an hour’s drive along the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon.

The camp will feature upscale, safari-inspired canvas tents, each equipped with a king-size bed, gas fireplace, and an ensuite bathroom. The lobby tent will feature furniture from West Elm and artwork from local artists. In addition, it will provide lounge spaces, boutique retail, and an array of books and games from Northwest artisans.

The camp will include a café-style dining program highlighting fresh, seasonal dishes from the company’s signature menu, accompanied by regionally sourced seafood, wines, and craft beers. Onsite activities will range from acoustic live music, daily yoga, children’s activities, and nightly s’mores, with an Adventure Concierge on hand to assist guests in booking additional activities such as rafting, paddleboarding, fishing, hiking, and mountain biking.

Under Canvas aims to create a mindful, minimal-disturbance approach to outdoor hospitality. The company designs its camps to maximize open space and blend with the land’s natural topography. Its commitment to reducing light pollution and preserving the night sky exemplifies its adherence to low-level lighting and other DarkSky development principles. The company is noted for having the first DarkSky-certified resorts in the world.

Reservations for the 2025 season at Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge are now available. Rates start at $299 per night, excluding taxes and fees.
