Vietnam recorded a 30% year-on-year increase in family travel interest for December 2025 and January 2026, according to Agoda search data.

Vietnam is experiencing a significant rise in popularity as a year-end destination for international families, with Agoda reporting a 30% increase in family travel interest for stays during December 2025 and January 2026 compared to the previous year.

Data from Agoda, based on searches conducted between September and November 2025, indicate that families from South Korea are the largest group interested in traveling to Vietnam during the winter holiday period. Other top source markets include India, Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia. Indian families recorded the highest growth in travel interest, with a 186% increase in searches for Vietnam, while Malaysian family searches rose by 74%.

Among Vietnamese destinations, Phu Quoc Island saw the largest increase in international family travel interest, with searches up 47%. Da Nang recorded a 42% increase, followed by Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi as the most sought-after locations for family travelers during the period. These cities were identified as the five leading destinations for international families visiting Vietnam at the end of the year.

The data also shows a shift in outbound travel patterns among Vietnamese families. Although Vietnamese families typically travel internationally in greater numbers during Lunar New Year, there has been a notable increase in interest in year-end travel to China. Among the top 20 outbound destinations for Vietnamese families in December and January, searches for Shanghai increased by 58%, and for Beijing by 59%. This trend is attributed in part to the launch of new direct flight routes between Hanoi and several Chinese cities earlier in 2025, which has improved accessibility for overseas travel during the winter holidays.

Agoda’s findings highlight changes in regional travel demand and suggest that Vietnam is becoming a more prominent destination for international families during the winter holiday season. The company’s data is based on aggregated search activity on its digital travel platform and reflects trends in planned travel for December 2025 and January 2026.
