Waldorf Astoria has opened a new hotel in the Qiantan District of Shanghai, featuring 204 guest rooms and suites.

Waldorf Astoria has inaugurated a new hotel located in the Qiantan District of Shanghai, China. The property, positioned along the Huangpu River, offers 204 guest rooms and suites. The hotel is designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and Cheng Chung Design, incorporating architectural elements inspired by the contours of a cruise ship.

The new hotel is part of Waldorf Astoria’s expansion in China, aiming to blend modern Shanghai’s dynamic environment with the brand’s established design themes. The hotel features a glass façade with metal panels that reflect the surrounding urban landscape. The interior design features a palette of pearl-white with accents of emerald green, terracotta, and amber, and utilizes materials such as marble, wood, and metal.

Dining options at the hotel include two main restaurants, ARAME and Fu Cheng, which are designed by CAP Atelier with lighting by Tino Kwan. The hotel also features a glass atrium in the lobby, which houses a clock, continuing the brand’s tradition of including a timepiece as a central element.

The hotel offers a range of amenities, including meeting rooms and event spaces, catering to both business and leisure travelers. Most guest rooms include large balconies with views of the Huangpu River and the West Bund skyline.
