Walmart's Best-Selling $13 'Cozy' Sweatshirts Are Similar to an Athleta Style Almost 7x the Price

While stylish and trendy sweaters are great for fall, a nice solid sweatshirt is underrated. It’s fun to have crewneck sweaters with your favorite artist’s face on them or a funny slogan slapped across the front, but plain sweatshirts are so versatile and can be layered without having to worry about covering up a design. And in Walmart’s case, a solid, plain sweater can be very affordable. Plus, their best-selling sweatshirt is similar to an Athleta style almost seven times the price.

We’re talking about Walmart’s Time and Tru Women’s Sweatshirt, which is currently only $12.98. This sweatshirt has no frills; it’s a solid color with no design or writing and has a “comfort fit,” meaning it’s loose without being “oversized.” Of course, it has long sleeves and a crewneck with a thick hem and cuffs.

Time and Tru Women’s Sweatshirt, $12.98 at Walmart

This sweater’s fabric makeup is 60% cotton and 40% polyester and it comes in nine colors, including cottage blue, black soot, green smoothie, merlot wine and others. As we mentioned above, this is noted as a best-selling sweater on their site, and the hype around it seems to back that up. 

Popular shopping Instagram account @walmartbargains posted a video about it on Aug. 19 and called it a “fall fave.” Someone commented, “It’s one of my favorites!” and another wrote, “These look so cozy!” One person also commented, “Just bought this in 3 colors and might go back for more!”

And it doesn’t end there. This product has over 1.1k reviews and ratings and 4.7 stars. One reviewer wrote, “Love! Great buy!” and that the sweater is “so comfy and cute.”

“Not super thick so you are sweating but nice quality,” they wrote. “Wash well and hold up well. After washing and wearing all winter maybe a little fade but can’t beat the price…”

Another shopper wrote that it was a “relaxed fit sweatshirt” that is lightweight “but warm and very comfortable.” And one person wrote that they were “inexpensive and a fabric that I really find comfortable.”

“I have them in about 6 different colors now,” they wrote. “I like that I can find staple items like this for a reasonable price.”

Forever Fleece Crewneck Sweatshirt, $89 at Athleta

On top of loving this sweater for its comfort and price, this Walmart sweater is also very similar to Athleta’s Forever Fleece Crewneck Sweatshirt. It’s currently $89 and comes in five very neutral colors ranging from green (Moss) top black and white (Bone). It has an oversized fit and regular length and is made for lounging and everyday wear. Its fabric is made up of 75% cotton, 19% polyester and 6% spandex. So it’s going to feel a little different than Walmart’s, but the look is nearly the exact same. Again, both are basic crewneck sweatshirts.

So if you’re in the market for a simple, plain crewneck and want to spend very little on it, Walmart’s Time and Tru Women’s Sweatshirt is worth checking out.
