Walter Reed Medical Center is secure and there is no threat to the community after a call reporting an active shooter sent the facility on lockdown Thursday morning. 

What we know:

Montgomery County police responded to Walter Reed around 10:30 a.m. for the report of an active shooter. 

The caller reported a man, armed with what appeared to be a rifle, was in the parking garage. 

Officials say that the firearm was a plastic training rifle. 

“The individual had no malicious intent and is not being charged,” per MCPD. 

Walter Reed Medical Center was under lockdown during the incident, with all gates closed to non-emergency vehicles and all personnel directed to remain in place.
