An update pushed to Blizzard’s internal servers the evening of November 5 indicates a remastered version of Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness may be waiting just over the horizon, Wowhead reports.
The data, publicly viewable on automated Battle.net update logger Blizztrack, refers to an internal alpha and includes artwork and a logo.
It’s possible we’ll hear official info about this project on November 13 during the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct, which Blizzard has hinted will include some sort of surprise.
Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness debuted on PC in 1995, continuing the story of its predecessor while adding new gameplay mechanics like aerial and naval warfare. Talks of a Warcraft 2 remake or remaster stretch back to at least 2017, and more recently, the original game and its Beyond the Dark Portal expansion were added to the Battle.net launcher on January 30, 2024.
Blizzard did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
