All I want for Christmas this year is for the millions of people suffering from Stockholm syndrome to overcome an ailment that is agonizing not just for those afflicted, but for everyone around them.

Wikipedia defines Stockholm syndrome as “a proposed condition or theory that tries to explain why hostages sometimes develop a psychological bond with their captors.”

The Grinches across the globe who gobbled up the grey matter of the gullible have been having their way with way too many Whos in Whoville. These poor folks have been abused so much and for so long that many victims have grown fond of their overlords. They seem unable to escape the abusive relationship, even defending their captors’ most egregious acts.

Remarkably, there are still people in Canada who defend the Liberal government despite a list of scandals and terrible policies longer than anything Santa ever had to deal with (It’s time to axe the c(r)ap and start discussing our progress on emissions). Some of those policies were purportedly aimed to reduce the prevalence of fossil fuels, but ministers in that party – as well as in the NDP that propped up the government – are sure to see only lumps of coal under their Christmas trees.

Incredibly, there are still people in the United States who believe that – as sure as reindeer can fly – the Democratic Party stands for integrity and has been fighting for the common people. But it is safe to say that the Democratic elite have received enough gifts over the last four years (U.S. jury finds Senator Menendez guilty in bribery trial, Democratic Party’s ‘Good vs Evil’ campaign dies in its bed of lies).

Astoundingly, there are still people in Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., UK, and most of the western world who believe it was a good idea to lock down their entire countries in 2020 and 2021 to fight a virus that was only a significant threat to very unhealthy people (Detailed analysis of 2021 death data reveals disturbing trends).

Astonishingly, there are still people in Germany – despite that country having helped pave the way for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by becoming reliant on Russian oil and gas – who believe that the fight against an imagined “climate catastrophe” is more important than domestic energy security (Recognizing roots of global energy crisis might help us move toward solutions).

Shockingly, there are people who insist that THIS TIME the climate alarmists will finally be right, ending an unblemished industry record of having never correctly predicted the disappearance of polar ice sheets along with dramatic sea level rise (What do models actually tell us about the future of climate change?, Sea level is rising; should we be worried?, Funeral for a glacier ).

The relentless cycle of abuse has made millions blind to their abductors’ villainous ways.

This Christmas, we cannot count on the captors’ hearts growing from two sizes too small to actually having a conscience and burst of benevolence. Therefore, we must try to help our associates get over Stockholm syndrome.

We must help the captives see that the love for their leaders is ill-founded, and that it is imperative they be freed from cognitive confinement.

This Christmas, give them the gift of intellectual enlightenment and critical thinking support offered through BIG Media at annual rates well below the standard hourly rate of a clinical psychologist.
