When the eighth season of Selling Sunset was released on Netflix this past week, fans of the show were introduced to yet another new agent joining the Oppenheim Group: Alanna Gold. Agents have certainly come and gone from the group thanks to a plethora of drama, intimidation and office politics, but we’re hoping Gold can hold her own — especially considering she’s bringing at little Canadian sensibility to the show! The rookie agent actually grew up just outside Toronto.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Selling Sunset reality star.

She grew up and went to school in Ontario

Gold grew up in Nobleton, a small community located in the King township just an hour’s drive from Toronto. She studied at Ontario Tech University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in health science. She told PEOPLE in an interview prior to Selling Sunset’s release that she originally went to university with a dream of becoming a veterinarian — before discovering that she’s allergic to animals.

She’s had a unique career path to the Oppenheim Group

Once Gold realized she couldn’t be a veterinarian, she said she was discovered for modelling, and took the chance to follow that career path.

While she may have started in Ontario, her new job took her to everywhere from Tokyo to New York City to Paris, before settling in Los Angeles.

She also got a certificate in digital marketing at Cornell University.

It was only during the pandemic, while living in L.A., that Alanna Gold thought about entering into the world of real estate, choosing to study to get her licence. “When I started working in this industry, I loved it and I realized that I didn’t want to go back into modeling. I really wanted to put all my time into real estate,” she told PEOPLE

Gold landed a job with the Westside Estate Agency in September of 2021, working there for two years until making her way to the Oppenheim Group in November 2023.

She owns a movie set-turned-town

As viewers of Season 8 of Selling Sunset will know, Gold and her husband, Adam Gold, own a large part of a town in the California desert, called Pioneertown. As she explains on the show, the town was once a movie set and is now a functioning town. The set was created in the 1940s to replicate an 1880s wild west-style town, and has been home to over 200 productions and is now a tourist attraction and wedding venue.

It happens to be where she and her husband had their first date, so there were clearly some sentimental reasons behind their decision to purchase a percentage of the town and help restore it. She also owns a property in the town called Cosmic Ranch — which currently is available to be rented on Airbnb for a whopping $2,200 for two nights in October.

She got married in her own town

Pioneertown is no stranger to weddings, and Gold and her husband were one of the couples to choose the town as their wedding venue when the two tied the knot in 2022. The nuptials featured a welcome dinner in the middle of the desert with a Western theme.

Alanna Gold’s husband is in the hospitality industry

Her husband is currently the managing director of Living Room, a private members’s club opening in fall of 2024 that is “a home away from home where creatives celebrate music, art, design and culture,” according to its official website.

She’s posted a few tributes to her husband on her Instagram, including a birthday post with the caption, “My partner, my best friend, my family, my rock. I love you – Can’t wait to see what this next year has in store.”
