Whataburger is bringing back a popular menu item, and fans are so thrilled by the news that they’re taking to social media to ask that it be made a permanent fixture.
After a three-year hiatus and a Change.org petition that amassed over 7,200 signatures, the Texas-based burger chain is finally giving fans what they want and putting the Mushroom Swiss Burger back into rotation.

The burger, which features all-beef patties, grilled mushrooms, and melted Swiss cheese, all topped with a creamy sauce, is back on the menu starting April 1 in celebration of the chain’s 75th anniversary.
“You asked, we listened—our Mushroom Swiss Burger is back! Because some legends don’t belong in the past… they belong in your hands,” Whataburger President and CEO Debbie Stroud said. “This year marks our 75th anniversary, and we wanted to give our customers something they’ve been asking for. It’s not just about nostalgia—it’s about our commitment to making every Whataburger visit one worth craving, with burgers served hot, fresh, and just the way you like it.”
The burger will be available through June 2, but fans on social media want the addition to be permanent. After popular food blogger Snackolator shared the news on Instagram, fans jumped into the comments to declare that “The mushroom and Swiss is delicious. I wish they would make it a permanent addition.”
Others agreed, writing that they were “thinking about that mushroom swiss burger the other day.” One fan went so far as to claim that when members of the Whataburger corporate team went into their work, they begged “them to bring back the mushroom swiss.”
