Want to try something new this month? ByBlacks Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to support Canada’s Black-owned restaurants, caterers and food trucks while rediscovering the eclectic tastes of African, Caribbean, and Fusion Black Canadian cuisine.
Running from November 20 to 26, 2023, ByBlacks Restaurant Week is a highly curated chance to experience Canada’s Black-owned dining establishments with participating restaurants offering a three or four course prix fixe menu, priced between $20 and $60 for an appetizer, entrée and dessert.
Citywide, restaurants are joining in by featuring specialties such as the Party Jollof with Beef or Chicken, a West African festive classic offered by Afrobeat Kitchen.The eatery is featuring some of its bestselling West African dishes, like their Shrimp Surfers and Chocolate Stout Cake that you won’t want to miss.
Other participating restaurants include Chic Peas Veg serving up vegan and Eritrean cuisine, including delicious veggie samosa and baked pumpkin spice donuts.
Miss Likkelmore’s, a restaurant known for its Caribbean-inspired cuisine, presents a tantalizing four-course prix-fixe menu. The culinary journey begins with Likkle Patties, featuring braised oxtail and spicy beef accompanied by fermented mango hot sauce. The second course introduces Nuff Nuff Slaw with papaya vinaigrette, compressed pear, jicama, kohlrabi, and peanuts. Moving on, the third course boasts Whole Jerk Chicken with jerk chicken jus, Coco Rice, and Mac Pie. The grand finale is a delicious slice of carrot cake. The cost is $120 plus HST for two guests.
At Earla’s Kitchen, a Grenadian restaurant in Oakwood Village, the prix fixe menu is mouth-watering and includes festival, dumpling or spring roll, a chicken dinner (jerk, BBQ or fried) and for desert, a current roll or sweet potato pudding.
