Ready to hit the slopes? These BC ski resorts are among the best in Canada & the US

10 November 20233 Mins Read

Skiers and winter sports lovers have plenty of options when it comes to top-notch ski resorts in BC, but if you’re looking for la creme de la creme of ski destinations, there are a handful of standouts worth noting. So if you want to go big this upcoming winter season, read on.

The 36th annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are out, and while Colorado dominates the list with the top resort of 45 across the U.S. and Canada, voters also recognized these beautiful BC resorts.

Whether you’re a “moguls expert, a terrain park shredder, or a novice still mastering blue runs,” these resorts “ticked all the boxes.”

Whistler Blackcomb, BC

Snagging the #2 spot on the list of Canadian and American ski resorts is none other than Whistler. While the resort is down a spot since last year, it’s still considered the “largest destination ski resort in North America” for a reason. With unmatched mountain skiing and snowboarding fit for any level, and an après-ski scene that’s “just as legendary as its slopes,” there’s no denying that Whistler Blackcomb reigns national champion in Canada for a reason.

In terms of resorts, Condé Nast recommends the 519-room Chateau Whistler, the Westin Resort & Spa, and Nita Lake Lodge.

Big White, BC

The second BC ski resort to make the cut is Big White, which earned the #6 spot on the list. Known for its fluffy dry snow, “Okanagan Champagne Powder,” Big White garners visitors from around the world, all of whom can experience Canada’s largest ski-in/ski-out village during their visit.

When it comes to places to stay, Condé Nast praises Sundance Resort for its prime location just above the Bullet Express near the Village Centre.

Want to know who else qualified this year? Here are the 15 best ski resorts in Canada and the US:

  1. Snowmass, Colorado
  2. Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia
  3. Deer Valley, Utah
  4. Smugglers’ Notch Resort, Vermont
  5. Aspen Mountain, Colorado
  6. Big White, British Columbia
  7. Sun Valley, Idaho
  8. Bretton Woods, New Hampshire
  9. Marmot Basin, Alberta
  10. Killington, Vermont
  11. Telluride, Colorado
  12. Jackson Hole, Wyoming
  13. Lake Louise Ski Resort, Alberta
  14. Aspen Highlands, Colorado
  15. Waterville Valley Resort, New Hampshire

So there you have it, ski enthusiasts. Consider your next bucket list ski trip in the works.
