Toronto neighbourhood to bring first of its kind outdoor art gallery this holiday season

20 November 20232 Mins Read

Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood is transforming into a free outdoor art gallery with 20 augmented reality window installations and five murals. Window Wonderland returns this November and here’s what to know.

The fourth annual event kicks off on November 24th and runs until January 31st, 2024. This urban art walk features artwork designed by local and international artists.

Visitors can bring the artwork to life using an AR app, Artivive – a first of its kind for the city.

According to organizers, this app “adds a layer of augmented reality to traditional art, creating new experiences and leaving audiences in awe.”

All you have to do is download the Artivive app, and point your smartphones at the artwork on the windows and wall murals. You will then see the creation come to life through your phone.

Along with the free artwork, the Junction has teamed up with award-winning dance company CORPUS for a family-friendly performance of The Alpine Merry Sheep Choir.

This free street performance of sheep singing Christmas carols will take place on December 16th from 2 PM to 4 PM, beginning at Heintzman St and Dundas Street W.

It looks like we’re about to be pretty busy this month with all the free holiday events happening in Toronto.

And we’re loving it!
