You need the Holtzman Amplifier in Dune: Awakening to complete your first non-essential contract, “Wrecking Crew,” but the survival game is happy to make you hunt for it. Compounding the confusion is the fact that the crate containing the amplifier is easy to overlook and doesn’t have the tell-tale signs that usually indicate you can grab some nice stuff inside.

Below, we’ve explained where to find the Holtzman Amplifier in Dune: Awakening and why it’s worth the hassle.

Where to find the Holtzman Amplifier in Dune: Awakening

The “Scrap Mettle: Wrecking Crew” contract tells you the Holtzman Amplifier is in the Alcyon wreck, but with no quest markers to guide the way, you’re left to figure out where to find it on your own. Most containers with items inside have a green glow that indicates you can loot them, but that’s not the case for some, including the one the Holtzman Amplifier is in.

Clear out the Alcyon entry area, then take the staircase in the room’s back right corner. It leads you to a navigation room with an active planet chart hologram up. To the left of the table with the hologram is a stack of crates. Interact with the one at the far end, and you’ll get the Holzman Amplifier, along with some Solari, Dune: Awakening’s currency.

The quest tracker in the screen’s top left won’t register that you acquired the Amplifier. For some reason, Dune: Awakening’s quest tracking logs that you acquired an item and then continues to show finding it as the next step until you hand in the contract. However, as long as you grabbed it from the crate, you’re good to go.

Make sure to take some time to clear out the rest of the ship as you complete “The Wreck of the Alcyon” main quest. You’ll find quite a few useful materials, and defeating the scavengers inside is a good way to earn extra experience points and extract some blood for your blood purifier.

Return to Griffin Trading Post the next time you’re in the area, and deliver the items at the contract terminal. You’ll get 350 XP and 2,000 Solari as a reward, which is fairly modest. However, it also unlocks a few additional contracts you likely already have the materials for or can find quickly, so hand those in and get even more cash for your trouble. Don’t forget you can purchase some basic necessities, such as plant fiber and welding wire, from the trading post, so if you don’t feel like looking for them yourself or want to save on crafting materials, splash out your reward money at the merchant’s stall.
