As Today viewers continue to wonder about who will replace Hoda Kotb alongside Jenna Bush Hager in the show’s fourth hour, rumors have been swirling about the possibility of Kelly Clarkson stepping in — but is there any truth to the gossip?

An “insider” recently told the Daily Mail that Clarkson is “contemplating” taking over for Kotb, pointing out that the morning show’s schedule could give the singer more time in the day to spend with her two children.

“She feels she is missing too much of their lives,” the insider said.

However, a source revealed to Parade that Today is “not close to naming a permanent co-host.”

Clarkson’s recent absence from The Kelly Clarkson Show has helped to fuel rumors about the “Since U Been Gone” songstress joining Today.

The Daily Mail‘s source claimed that Clarkson stepped away from her eponymous talk show temporarily because she was feeling “overwhelmed,” noting that Kotb similarly took some time off from Today in November 2024 to spend more time with her own two children.

“It inspired Kelly to do the same,” the insider said.

Since Kotb left Today earlier this year, Bush Hager has been joined by a series of A-listers as temporary hosts including Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria, and Dwyane Wade.
