Whitbread has announced plans to expand its Premier Inn hotel chain with six new locations in Surrey, Kent, and Sussex.

Whitbread PLC is planning to expand its Premier Inn hotel network across southeast England. The company has identified six new target locations following a review of its network requirements in the counties of Surrey, Kent, and Sussex.

The proposed locations for new Premier Inn hotels include Rye in Sussex; Canterbury and Broadstairs in Kent; and Caterham, Weybridge, and Leatherhead in Surrey. The expansion is part of a broader strategy to capitalize on growth opportunities in these regions, driven by demand and changes in the hotel market.

To facilitate this expansion, Whitbread has appointed James Hall as Acquisitions and Development Manager to collaborate with councils, landowners, investment agencies, and developers. The aim is to identify suitable sites for new hotels and leverage Whitbread’s investment capabilities.

Premier Inn currently operates over 85,000 bedrooms across the UK and Ireland. The company sees potential for further growth, targeting a long-term goal of 125,000 rooms. The expansion into new locations is based on data indicating customer demand for additional hotel rooms in these areas.

The company is seeking sites within and outside town centers that can accommodate hotels with upwards of 100 bedrooms. The focus is on transforming vacant spaces, revitalizing town center sites, or acquiring existing properties that can be developed into hotels.

Further details on Premier Inn’s development requirements and the full list of target locations are available on Whitbread’s website. The company continues to explore additional opportunities for growth in Greater London and other areas.
